Hamburger Soup
1 pound or 1/2 kilo ground beef (hamburger or beef mince)
1 can (400 grams / 14 oz.) of chopped tomatoes
1 can (400 grams/14 oz) cooked kidney beans
1 can (400 grams/14oz) peas
1 can (400 grams/14 oz) sweet corn
1 medium or 2 small onions
1 large or 2 medium potatoes
1 or 2 stalks of celery
1) Peel and chop up the onions.
2) Peel and chop up the potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
3) Dice the celery.
4) Brown the hamberger (mince) along with the onion and celery in a 2 quart sauce pan.
5) While it is cooking, open the tinned vegetables.
6) Line a collander/sieve with paper towel.
7) When the meat is browned well, pour it into the paper-lined collander/sieve to remove excess grease.
8) Pour the mean with the onions and celery back into the sauce pan.
9) Add the tinned vegetables.
10) Season with herbs or flavours of your choice.
10) Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve when ready.
You can use frozen vegetables if you prefer them to tinned ones.
I would add beef stock and garlic. But that's just me! Serve this with some yummy toasty garlic/cheesey bread. YUMM-o!
